Graduate Research Assistantship: Islamophobia Index Development (400 hours)
Area of Research
The study of Islam and Muslims in Canada
Description of Duties
This Research Assistantship (RAship) will invite a graduate student to work closely with a MiCDI data team member to develop an index measuring Islamophobia. The role would include qualitative data analysis, conceptualization and operationalization of focal phenomena, and preliminary testing of developed indexes.
Duties include:
Weekly meetings with supervisor
Collecting and coding qualitative reports
Synthesizing findings
Collecting quantitative survey measures
Development of index measures
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be currently enrolled as a graduate student in a social sciences or humanities field. Applicant must be trained in qualitative data analysis and be familiar with social science surveys and measures.

The RA’s primary role will be to support the Study of Muslims in Canada (SMiC) data team in developing the survey questionnaire. The RA would work directly with their supervisor on the below tasks.
Duties include:
Weekly meetings with supervisor
Identifying main concepts to operationalize
Collecting quantitative survey measures
Reviewing final survey measure
